About the Opportunity
Our client in the post-secondary education sector is seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst (Data / Reporting) to support key enterprise reporting and data initiatives. This role will contribute to important projects that improve how organizational data is structured, reported, and leveraged for decision-making.
The successful candidate will support a ministry reporting initiative focused on reporting student outcomes and performance metrics while a new system of record is being implemented. In parallel, you will contribute to the development of an enterprise data repository that will serve as a centralized reporting environment. This role requires strong experience working in data-heavy environments involving reporting systems, data mapping, and enterprise data platforms.

Your Responsibilities
You’ll gather, analyze, and document business requirements for data reporting and enterprise data repository initiatives.
In this role, you’ll validate reporting requirements for ministry reporting initiatives and identify additional reporting needs.
You’ll perform current state and future state analysis, including gap analysis and documentation of business processes and data flows.
You’ll develop detailed data mapping documentation including business glossary, source systems, ETL logic, and target reporting structures.
You’ll collaborate with business and technical teams to translate business needs into clear functional and technical specifications.
You’ll support requirements lifecycle management including traceability, testing preparation, and documentation aligned with Waterfall methodologies.
Skills and Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst supporting data reporting or data warehouse initiatives in Waterfall environments.
Strong experience in requirements elicitation, process mapping, and structured documentation aligned with IIBA or BABOK frameworks.
Hands-on experience working with SQL, data profiling, and enterprise data environments such as data warehouses or data lakes.
Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Azure Synapse, Snowflake, or AWS Redshift.
Experience with data mapping, reporting systems, and enterprise data repositories.
Strong analytical thinking, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
Experience working with tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, Visio, and SQL-based databases.
