Agilus is recruiting for a Mechanical Designer - SmartPlant 3D in the Engineering consulting industry in Mississauga, Ontario. The Mechanical Designer is responsible for development of the 3D Model and 2D drawings while leading model design reviews and milestone reviews. In addition, the Senior Mechanical Designer is required to provide support to the various discipline engineers and the construction team. Total rewards: $60.00 - $80.00 hourly The hourly rate range is determined by both experience level and operating status (T4 employee versus incorporated) Preferred rates for benefit coverage available 10-12 month contract - Opportunity for extension A typical day: Produce mechanical equipment layouts, models, and drawings in accordance with project requirements and under the supervision of the Lead Mechanical Engineer Execute designs in accordance with the mechanical and layout design criteria Sound knowledge in the design of project specific mechanical components or systems, as well as fundamental knowledge of plant processes. Develop design details of standard design elements; Prepare 3D equipment modeling and 3D design; Generating 2D drawings from the 3D model as required by the project. Perform conceptual layout work as well as check drawings prior to release Use vendor data, drawings, and information to develop and verify the model Create and maintain check sheets for all equipment as vendor data is received. Back model all changes as required. Perform clash detection of models with other discipline models Provide material quantity takeoffs for estimating purposes or inclusion into bulk commodity purchases and installation contracts Provide regular feedback to the Overall Engineering Manager and Mechanical Lead on progress with preparation of deliverables. Successful candidates will have: Minimum of 8 years of experience in a heavy industrial design and layout. EPCM environment is preferred. Minimum of 3 years’ experience with Smartplant 3D preferred; Experience with Bentley, Openplant, or 3D Microstation nice to have. Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, regulations, and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to the project. Strong deliverable focus with a proven ability to attain quality and schedule objectives while maintaining budgets. Strong ability to engage and coordinate the design with client representatives. Knowledge of project delivery, including the activities, interfaces and interdependence of all project disciplines.
