You’ll work closely with senior DBAs and infrastructure engineers, learning through mentorship, collaboration, and exposure to both on-premises and cloud-based database environments.
As part of a public-sector-adjacent organization delivering real-time payments, open banking solutions, and innovative commerce technologies, you’ll play a key role in supporting the database systems that keep Canadians’ financial transactions secure and reliable. This position offers a strong growth path toward a Senior DBA or Database Engineering Lead role.

Support and administrator of enterprise database environments
Assist with database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migrations.
Monitor database performance, availability, and security, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
Participate in backup, recovery, disaster recovery testing, and high-availability configuration.
Develop automation scripts to streamline database provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance tasks.
Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineering, Operations, Platform, Security, and Product teams to support application deployments and performance tuning.
Participate in troubleshooting database-related incidents and escalate issues appropriately.
Maintain and update documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, scalability, and automation.
University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong interest in database administration, data platforms, and systems engineering.
Foundational knowledge of relational databases (e.g., SQL concepts, indexing, performance tuning).
Understanding of backup and recovery principles.
Exposure to database platforms including Cockroach, PostgreSQL and Oracle.
Familiarity with cloud database services (Azure, AWS, or GCP) is an asset.
Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar).
Analytical thinking with a focus on secure, scalable, and reliable database systems.
Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, collaborative technical environment.
Experience working in agile, DevOps, or engineering squads is an asset.
