Qualifications:
The Manager, Credit Risk Governance and Oversight reports to the Senior Manager, Home Financing Lending Policy and Process Oversight, and provides independent second‑line oversight in support of the Bank’s overall credit risk management framework. The role supports Senior Management by delivering objective assessment, challenge, and assurance over credit risk practices within the Real Estate Secured Lending (RESL) portfolio.
This role is accountable for providing independent oversight, monitoring, and reporting of adherence to approved credit risk policies, standards, and risk appetite. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, enhancement, and operationalization of credit risk policies, methodologies, and controls designed to promote transparency, accuracy, and consistency across the organization.
A core responsibility of this role is to deliver effective and constructive challenge to first‑line business partners by independently assessing credit risk decisions, policy interpretations, methodologies, data integrity, and portfolio outcomes. This includes identifying emerging risks, control gaps, and deviations from policy or risk appetite; validating the appropriateness of risk mitigants; and escalating issues and recommendations in a timely manner. The role requires sound judgment to balance risk oversight with business enablement, ensuring challenge is well‑evidenced, proportionate, and aligned with governance expectations.
Working collaboratively with key stakeholders, the Manager will support the implementation of approved oversight methodologies, metrics, and program standards for the RESL portfolio, monitor remediation progress, and ensure identified issues are addressed through clear action plans. The role also contributes to senior management and committee reporting by providing independent insights, risk assessments, and forward‑looking analysis.
