As A Foreman, Mechanical Assembler, you will be responsible for on-site operational supervision. This includes executing the daily production plan, monitoring quality, and managing the team. You will also collaborate with management to improve processes and resolve production issues.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure production activities are carried out safely and in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Work with Human Resources and Occupational Health and Safety teams to manage disciplinary actions related to workplace safety.
  • Ensure employees receive the necessary HSE training.
  • Monitor tasks that do not meet quality standards and oversee necessary corrections.
  • Approve production-related documents, including work instructions and non-compliance reports.
  • Participate in the improvement of production processes to reduce the need for corrections.
  • Review and recommend updates to procedures and work instructions for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the ship manager to develop action plans that ensure effective production operations.
  • Plan daily operations to meet production targets.
  • Identify production obstacles and recommend solutions to stay on schedule.
  • Manage and review and daily production reports.
  • Participate in the optimization of manufacturing processes and automation where applicable.
  • Supervise a production team, fostering engagement and motivation.
  • Address employee concerns and ensure production expectations are clearly understood and met.
  • Assist in employee performance and probationary evaluations in collaboration with the ship manager.
  • Handle disciplinary matters appropriately in coordination with production managers and Human Resources.
  • Ensure effective communication of action plans and track progress.
  • Attend and participate in production and management meetings as required.
  • Develop efficient work methods to enhance production.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying and implementing solutions to improve production processes.
  • Work closely with various departments to ensure seamless planning and execution of tasks.

 

Requirements

 

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (industrial mechanics, industrial piping, sheet metal work, or a related discipline).
  • Experience working in an industrial environment. 
  • At least five (5) years of experience in team management. 
  • Experience working in a unionized setting. 
  • MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Successful completion the investigation and security clearance process required by the federal government’s Contract Security Program.
