As a Planner, you will work on naval repair projects. Working in collaboration with multiple functions, you will be responsible for developing a detailed production plan that aligns resources, materials, and production sequencing.

Your role is to translate technical requirements into clear, actionable instructions while maintaining compliance, safety, and operational effectiveness.

 

More specifically, you will:

  • Develop comprehensive planning guidelines that cover the full scope of work and provide all necessary details for safe and efficient execution.
  • Convert technical requirements into detailed procedures in accordance with established standards for internal teams and subcontractors.
  • Define work order requirements, including quality control measures, HSE risks, tools, equipment, materials, resources, and time allocations.
  • Collaborate with scheduling to build a detailed plan based on available production capacity.
  • Schedule work order releases by date and quantity to maintain adherence to the production schedule.
  • Establish and maintain earned value measurement (EVM) rules for tracking production progress.
  • Monitor labour hours and material usage against estimated costs, analyze variances, and adjust standard hours as needed.
  • Track work orders (real-time hours, material usage, production feedback, etc.) for continuous improvement. 
  • Respond to production requests and resolve issues related to execution, materials, equipment, or procedures within defined timelines to implement required corrections.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in a similar role OR relevant education combined with two (2) years of related experience. 
  • Experience using ERP or scheduling software. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively across departments in a multidisciplinary environment. 
  • Previous experience (and curiosity to learn more) to processes and techniques in areas such as welding, industrial painting, electrical work, piping, or high-pressure/high-temperature systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and proficiency with standard software tools (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI) is an asset. 
  • Successfully complete the investigation and security clearance process required by the federal government’s Contract Security Program.
