The Opportunity

The Director, IT Services aligns IT services, assets, and processes with the business direction of Medavie Health Services and its operating companies. This leader oversees IT service delivery across multiple organizations and locations, ensuring solutions and operations follow industry best practices, are secure, and meet agreed service levels. The role also carries significant accountability for budgeting, forecasting, estimating, and cost control, with regular engagement with senior leaders to review, justify, and prioritize technology investments.

What you’ll do

  • Lead IT services and project delivery across the MHS group of companies, ensuring technology initiatives support business strategy and provide measurable value.

  • Guide strategic technology direction, including recommending and implementing solutions that strengthen operational effectiveness and service delivery.

  • Provide leadership on technology risk management, security practices, and maintaining a secure IT environment.

  • Ensure appropriate controls are in place for systems, including access security, documentation standards, and backup/recovery policies.

  • Monitor initiative progress, remove barriers, allocate resources effectively, and manage budgets and service assignments to achieve outcomes.

  • Establish, document, and improve IT operational policies and procedures to support reliable performance and minimize service interruption.

  • Lead annual IT budgeting activities, including forecasting and ongoing cost management, and present/justify requirements to senior stakeholders.

  • Mentor, coach, and develop IT leaders and teams to strengthen performance, collaboration, and professional growth.

  • Oversee the IT PMO and collaborate with leadership peers to prioritize initiatives and align delivery plans across the organization.

  • Manage and maintain relationships with stakeholders, vendors, contractors, partners, and external organizations; negotiate and review contracts for IT goods and services.

  • Communicate clearly with customers, staff, and leadership on IT issues, initiatives, and changes that may impact operations and patient-care support.

  • Stay current on emerging technology trends and innovations relevant to health services; advise leadership on opportunities, impacts, and improvements.

What you need to succeed

Education: Technical university degree, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years in an IM/IT environment (health care preferred).

  • Minimum 5 years in a technology management role, ideally leading geographically dispersed teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex inputs into clear, actionable deliverables.

  • Experience in technical project management and driving process improvement/organizational vision is an asset.

  • Strong leadership with sound decision-making, problem-solving, and follow-through.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong presentation and consultative skills.

  • Ability to build trust and influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of needs analysis, solution selection methodologies, initiative management, and budgeting.

Language: English required, bilingualism is an asset.

Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B).  This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.

Pay Range: $120,350 - $171,900 (CAD)
