Capital Programs Branch
This branch is a part of the Financial Services and Capital Planning Division, works with school jurisdictions, francophone authorities, and charter school societies to maintain and upgrade supported capital infrastructure. The branch collaborates with partners to develop long-term capital plans and ensure project requests align with educational needs and ministry priorities. Capital Programs also works closely with Alberta Infrastructure to ensure approved projects are implemented according to government policy, standards, and procedures.
The Major Capital Programs (MCP) Strategic Analyst supports the effective management of K–12 school capital programs by researching, analyzing, and developing recommendations that inform planning, funding, and decision making. The role works closely with internal ministry teams, cross-government partners, and stakeholders to advance ministry goals and ensure alignment with infrastructure and maintenance needs.
Reporting to the Major Capital Programs Manager, the MCP Strategic Analyst collaborates with branches across Education and Childcare, providing analysis, data governance support, and recommendations related to capital planning, program evaluation, and major capital submissions. The analyst leads reviews of school capital project proposals, supports the development of submissions to Treasury Board, and contributes to the evolution of school planning and site readiness processes.

Education Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree (4 year) in a related field such as Business, Economics, Engineering, or Technology/Information Management.
Plus, minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in a government setting.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered on a one-for-one basis.
