Role Responsibilities

Do you have a passion for supporting vulnerable youth?  Is this more than just a job - does it feel like your life’s calling?  If so, consider joining our clinical team as a Clinical Practice Specialist at our Provincial Campus-Based Care (PCBC) centre. This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of children and youth who need it most.

Be part of a team that shares the vision of building “strong children, youth, families, and communities where children and youth are valued, nurtured, and loved.”

As a key member of a multidisciplinary team and reporting to the Manager of Clinical Services at Provincial Campus-Based Care (PCBC), the Clinical Practice Specialist provides leadership and support in advancing trauma-informed clinical practices. This role is responsible for guiding and enhancing clinical practice at the regional level, while aligning with provincial priorities and emerging knowledge—particularly in the application of the Neurosequential Model (NM) of Therapeutics and trauma-informed care frameworks.

As a Clinical Practice Specialist, you will provide expert consultation to staff and leadership, with a primary focus on implementing the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) across PCBC programs. You will develop and monitor consistent NMT practices, engage directly with youth to model therapeutic strategies, and support staff in creating and applying individualized care plans.

This position requires a high level of skill in the areas of communication, collaboration and coordination.

Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Applying cultural awareness and understanding of diverse belief systems, with a focus on First Nations and Indigenous practices
  • Adhering to child intervention protocols and regional directives
  • Implementing practice model priorities such as Signs of Safety and Lifelong Connections
  • Working within relevant legislation and policy frameworks, including but not limited to:
    • Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act
    • Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act
    • Children First Act, School Act, Mental Health Act, Indian Act, Young Offenders Act, Prevention of Family Violence Act, Public Health Act, Drug-Endangered Children Act
    • Accreditation standards, regional policies, and PCBC procedures
  • Applying principles of project and change management
  • Addressing the unique service delivery needs of Indigenous children, youth, and families
  • Utilizing outcome measurement tools and evaluation frameworks to inform practice
  • Demonstrated academic and theoretical training in child and adolescent development, family dynamics, trauma and its effects, mental health and substance use disorders, and indicators of child abuse, to support effective clinical assessment and intervention

PCBC centres value the unique perspectives, cultural knowledge and experiences that Indigenous peoples, including the youth the centre serves. At all centres, PCBC actively works to create a culturally safe and supportive environment for Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth.
