Your Opportunity

Stantec is currently searching for a Civil Engineering Graduate (EIT) - water and wastewater on a regular full-time basis, reporting out of the London office. The primary role of a Civil Engineering Graduate (EIT) is to work on water and wastewater treatment and conveyance projects in a supporting capacity, as part of a project team and under the guidance and supervision of project managers, engineers or specialists. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include the development of engineering and financial calculations, technical reports, supporting proposals, and working independently in the field. Though most of our work focuses on collaboration, there are some tasks that would require working individually to perform a variety of assignments which may include calculations, field work, coordination of tasks and personnel. You may lead the analysis of proposed projects or be a valued team member on tasks with a focus on reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Office-based tasks may include technical data compilation / assessment / validation, specification development, technical report writing, and engineering calculations. Field work may include construction inspection on water and wastewater projects to ensure contractor’s operations comply with contract drawings and specifications.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and review projects during construction, which may include monitoring conformance with contract documents, reviewing the progress of construction activities, and ensuring cost, schedule and quality standards are met.

  • Provide technical assistance and input on linear infrastructure projects which include sanitary, stormwater and municipal water servicing.

  • Participate in preliminary and detailed design of sanitary, stormwater and municipal water infrastructure.

  • Support infrastructure master planning projects and environmental assessments.

  • Perform data analysis, data entry and collect meeting summaries to support projects and tasks.

  • Work collaboratively with Project Engineers, Technologists, and Project Managers to assist in planning, design, CAD drafting, and preparation of construction plans, bid documents, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates in connection with a variety of civil engineering projects.

  • Perform field reviews for data collection, drawing and/or design development, site status updates, construction site inspections and/or meetings, and record drawings.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Familiar with water distribution, stormwater collection and management, and wastewater collection.

  • Basic understanding of construction survey and field measurement.

  • Understanding of relevant discipline software programs, which may include AutoCAD Civil3D, PCSWMM, SWMHYMO, WaterCAD, Infoworks (or other modeling software) is seen as a favorable asset.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and spreadsheets.

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate project issues with the contractor, project team and clients in the execution of engineering projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality technical writing pieces (e.g. reports and/or proposals) will be considered an asset.

  • Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, responsibilities, and projects and adjust to changing demands.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Environmental or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Engineering Intern/EIT registered or eligible for registration in Ontario.

  • Minimum of 1 year of water and wastewater engineering related co-op, internship, or full-time work experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:

• Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC & Various locations in Ontario-$63,300.00 - $88,600.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
