About the Opportunity
Altis Recruitment is partnering with a federal public sector organization to support the search for a Library Technician in Calgary. This role plays a key part in ensuring critical information resources are organized, accessible, and preserved to support regulatory and operational excellence.
Working within a collaborative Library team, you will contribute to cataloguing, reference services, and collection maintenance while serving as a trusted point of contact for internal clients. Your work will directly support informed decision-making and knowledge sharing across the organization.

Your Responsibilities
You’ll create complete bibliographic records from scratch, including classification, subject headings, and standardized descriptors.
In this role, you’ll catalogue and classify materials using electronic systems in accordance with established rules and standards.
You’ll act as the first point of contact for library inquiries, resolving straightforward requests and escalating complex matters as needed.
You’ll conduct reference interviews, search physical and digital holdings, and guide clients in using automated library systems.
You’ll support collection maintenance, including processing materials, repairing damaged items, tracking statistics, and preparing reports.
You’ll provide administrative and technical support to ongoing library projects and regulatory documentation initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
2+ years of post-secondary education in Library and Information Technology or Library Science, with relevant library experience.
Practical knowledge of cataloguing, classification systems, controlled vocabularies, and bibliographic standards.
Experience using MS Office and integrated library systems.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to self-correct and maintain data accuracy.
Excellent multitasking and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
Professional communication skills with a client-focused mindset.
