About the Opportunity

Our client, a growing automotive group, is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead and elevate their payroll function across Quebec and Ontario locations. Based in Gatineau, this role will initially focus on Quebec payroll operations while partnering closely with leadership to strengthen processes, accuracy, and compliance across the broader organization.

You will collaborate with HR, Finance, and other leaders to ensure payroll runs smoothly for a diverse workforce, including unionized employees, commissioned sales teams, and salaried staff. Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll lead biweekly payroll processing for Quebec locations, including bonuses and commissions aligned with employee agreements.

  • In this role, you’ll oversee payroll operations across all locations, ensuring compliance with Quebec and Ontario legislation.

  • You’ll manage month-end accruals, reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts, and oversee year-end reporting including T4 preparation.

  • You’ll serve as the go-to expert for complex payroll inquiries, supporting HR, Finance, and dealership leaders.

  • You’ll drive process improvements, support audits, and supervise payroll team members through coaching and performance management.


Skills and Qualifications

  • 5 to 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role

  • Strong knowledge of Quebec payroll legislation, unionized environments considered an asset

  • Deep understanding of payroll accounting, reconciliations, and internal controls

  • Proficiency with payroll systems such as Payworks and advanced Excel skills

  • Bilingual communication skills in French and English

  • High level of discretion, adaptability, and collaborative leadership style

Notre client, un groupe automobile en pleine croissance, est à la recherche d’un gestionnaire de la paie pour diriger et optimiser la fonction paie à travers ses emplacements au Québec et en Ontario. Basé à Gatineau, ce rôle se concentrera d’abord sur les opérations de paie au Québec, tout en collaborant étroitement avec la direction afin de renforcer les processus, l’exactitude et la conformité à l’échelle de l’organisation.

Vos responsabilités

  • Vous assurerez le traitement de la paie aux deux semaines pour les emplacements du Québec, incluant le calcul des primes et commissions selon les ententes des employés.

  • Dans ce rôle, vous superviserez les opérations de paie pour tous les emplacements, en assurant la conformité aux lois provinciales et fédérales en Ontario et au Québec.

  • Vous gérerez les écritures de régularisation de fin de mois, la conciliation des comptes du grand livre liés à la paie et la production des rapports de fin d’année, incluant les T4.

  • Vous agirez à titre de personne-ressource pour les questions complexes liées à la paie, en collaboration avec les RH, les finances et les gestionnaires d’emplacements.

  • Vous dirigerez des initiatives d’amélioration des processus, soutiendrez les audits et superviserez les membres de l’équipe paie par le coaching et l’évaluation du rendement.


Compétences et qualifications

  • 5 à 7 ans et plus d’expérience progressive en paie, dont au moins 3 ans dans un rôle de supervision ou de gestion

  • Excellente connaissance de la législation de la paie au Québec, expérience en milieu syndiqué un atout

  • Solide compréhension de la comptabilisation des transactions de paie et des conciliations

  • Maîtrise d’un système de paie tel que Payworks et compétences avancées en Excel

  • Capacité à communiquer efficacement en français et en anglais

  • Sens aigu de la confidentialité, adaptabilité et style de leadership collaboratif
