Job Type: Casual

Calian takes pride in delivering high-quality psychological assessment services to our public and private sector clients across Canada. We are actively seeking Psychologists across British Columbia to join our dynamic team. As a vital member of Calian, you will play an important role in supporting clients who operate in high-risk environments by conducting assessments that help determine whether applicants are well-suited for their roles.

Join a network of consultant psychologists across the country and contribute to ensuring organizations are staffed with capable, thoroughly assessed professionals who are ready to perform their duties effectively. Be part of a team committed to excellence in psychological assessment and make a meaningful impact on the success of both our clients and the individuals they hire!

Position Overview

We are looking for Psychologists across British Columbia to conduct candidate selection assessments for policing agencies. This role is ideal for professionals seeking flexibility and engaging work that does not involve long-term therapy. We coordinate the referral process and schedule assessments based on your availability, allowing you to focus on your core expertise.

You will have the opportunity to conduct structured stress interviews and complete detailed assessment reports. This is an impactful role within the law enforcement community and offers the benefit of a streamlined process designed to support your workflow. This consultant psychologist position is well-suited for those who enjoy varied work, have an interest in public safety and policing, and thrive on diverse and meaningful professional challenges. If you prefer roles that do not require therapeutic alliances and value flexibility, this position offers an excellent fit.

Responsibilities

  • You will interview candidates who have completed written personality assessments administered by Calian. After the interview, you will complete a standardized findings template, with support available from our Senior Consulting Psychologist.
  • You will conduct the second part of a two-part assessment process. The first part includes formal testing using the MMPI-3 and 16PF. The second part, performed by you, is a structured clinical interview.
  • You will review and interpret testing results, conduct the follow-up clinical interview, and determine whether the candidate meets the required suitability criteria.
  • You may be asked to provide feedback on individual results to candidates and defend psychological evaluations when required.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology is preferred; a Master’s degree may be accepted depending on experience.
  • Must be fully licensed for autonomous practice as a Registered Clinical Psychologist in BC.
  • Must have completed at least 25 psychological assessments in the last 5 years for adults in high-risk occupations such as police, military, first responders, armed border agents, or correctional services officers.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience conducting psychodiagnostic assessments with adults in a clinical setting using DSM criteria.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using MMPI-2, MMPI-2-RF, or MMPI-3 in psychodiagnostic or psychological suitability assessments.

Additional Requirements

  • Casual contract with a highly flexible work schedule.
  • Work can be completed virtually or in person, depending on the psychologist’s preference.
  • Assessments may be scheduled on weekdays, weekends, or evenings.
  • Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) security clearance (Reliability Status) is required, and the recruiter will assist you with the process.
