Medavie is transforming how government health benefits and public programs are delivered across Canada — and we’re looking for a visionary leader to drive what comes next.
As a not‑for‑profit, national health solutions partner, we’ve spent decades earning the trust of federal and provincial governments by delivering high‑impact programs, advancing digital modernization, and improving experiences for millions of Canadians each year
We are now seeking a National Lead, Business Development, Government Programs, a strategic and influential leader who will shape Medavie’s next era of growth within this business division, strengthen our role as a partner of choice to government, and champion a future where innovation, service excellence, and public-sector partnership meaningfully improve lives.
Why this role matters
Governments across Canada are facing unprecedented pressure to modernize programs, adopt digital and AI-enabled service delivery, and deliver better outcomes for residents, providers, and communities. Medavie is uniquely positioned to help.
As the national lead of Business Development, you will advance a national growth strategy for our Government Division — designing the roadmap, building critical relationships, influencing policy and procurement environments, and ensuring Medavie is recognized for the value, trust, and impact we bring.
What you’ll lead and deliver
Strategy, Growth & Business Development
In this role, you will define and execute Medavie’s mid‑ and long‑term growth strategies for the Government Business Division, ensuring both expansion and retention across jurisdictions. You will lead the development of a data‑driven plan, tracking performance against growth KPIs, and providing critical insight into market conditions, policy environments, and competitive activity. As Medavie’s voice of the market, you will ensure the organization is ready for opportunities and remains positioned as a trusted national partner.
Government Partnerships & Stakeholder Influence
You will build and nurture deep, trust-based relationships with federal and provincial government leaders, client representatives, and key industry stakeholders. Through proactive engagement and strategic influence, you will strengthen Medavie’s position for both new opportunities and the retention of current programs. Your leadership will ensure a consistent presence, thoughtful relationship management, and elevated visibility across government environments.
Product, Service & Solutions Leadership
You will shape the product and service roadmap for Medavie’s Government Business Division, championing service enhancements, digital modernization, and operational readiness. Partnering extensively with internal teams across Medavie, you will align divisional capabilities to client needs, support successful product launches, and ensure seamless planning and implementation for new business. Your work will help unify organizational direction and advance the strategic priorities of the Government Division.
Market Positioning, Procurement & Proposal Excellence
You will guide Medavie’s market presence by strengthening our industry leadership profile, enhancing external visibility, and clearly articulating our differentiated value for government partners. You will elevate procurement approaches and RFP strategies to deliver competitive, compelling, and winning submissions that reflect Medavie’s public-sector expertise. Through your leadership, Medavie will maintain a strong and credible position in a complex and evolving government marketplace.
What you bring
7+ years of senior business development experience, ideally in government, public-sector benefits, or complex program administration.
Demonstrated mastery of federal and provincial procurement, including large-scale, multi‑year contracts.
Political acuity and the ability to navigate inter-jurisdictional dynamics and emerging government policies.
Strong executive presence with exceptional communication, negotiation, and influence capabilities.
Strategic thinker with the ability to build long-range national growth plans.
Experience with digital modernization and AI-enabled solutions an asset.
Collaborative leadership style that inspires teams, aligns stakeholders, and drives enterprise-wide outcomes.
