Position Overview

Calian ITCS is currently seeking a Lab Support (RF Technician) for a 6 months full time contract opportunity to perform the following duties:

Responsibilities

• Alleviate bottlenecks and help engineers achieve their deadlines.
• Work independently and under engineering guidance to assemble and troubleshoot complex engineering test setups with and without diagrams.
• Use both manual and power hand tools and multimeter.
• Radio and telecom systems (working at -48VDC) installation.
• RF cabling, splitters, couplers, attenuation…
• Test rack design and build, cable dressing and labeling.
• Fiber installation and troubleshooting.
• Network LANs and serial communication.
• Track test equipment in and out of the lab by using a scanner and database.
• Maintain inventory and notify lab prime when low.
• Share ownership of lab by proactively keeping isles and walkways clear of debris and hazards.
• When released by engineering, clear out and recycle old prototypes and materials.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in assembling and troubleshooting of complex engineering test setups with and without diagrams.
• Experience using both manual and power hand tools and multimeter.
• Experience in radio installation and an understanding of telecom systems working at -48VDC.
• Familiarity with RF radio frequency cabling, splitters, couplers, attenuation…
• Experience in test rack design and build, cable dressing and labeling.
• Fiber installation and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Unix, Linux, MS Office.
• Physically fit with the confidence to climb ladders and work at height.
• Ability to safely handle heavy equipment up to 100 kg using lifting devices.

Compensation

• $25-35/hour

“Final compensation will be based on the successful candidate’s skills, experience, qualifications, and contract conditions.”
