The Affordable Housing Branch in the Strategic Initiatives Department is seeking a dynamic and innovative professional to lead the design, implementation, and oversight of funding and incentive programs that support the development of new affordable and supportive housing. This role is responsible for the effective development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of various municipal affordable and supportive housing programs, including Action Ottawa, the Affordable Housing Community Improvement Plan, the Municipal Capital Facilities property tax incentive, and Bill 23 provincial incentives related to parkland and development charges. The position may also be involved in request for proposal (RFP) processes related to funding and the disposition of municipal land for affordable and supportive housing, as well as undertaking a comprehensive update of the Action Ottawa program guidelines.
The successful candidate will bring expertise and a minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in affordable housing and/or program design and implementation (specifically in incentive/funding and/or housing programs), and a strong understanding of affordable housing policy and funding programs across all levels of government. In addition, the candidate will bring experience and skills related to: inclusive communication and engagement; research and analysis; coordination of consultants; and preparation of reports and presentations for elected officials and senior staff.
Completion of 4 year degree in urban and regional planning or a field related to planning or the unit’s area of expertise (such as landscape architecture, architecture, urban design, urban geography, engineering, environmental planning).
Minimum of 8 years of related and progressively responsible, professional experience in the unit’s area of expertise
