The Senior Manager of Data Engineering is a strategic and technical leadership role responsible for driving the design, development, and governance of enterprise-grade data pipeline solutions. 

 

This leader manages and oversees data engineering teams, enables scalable data pipelines, and partners closely with business, analytics, and technology stakeholders to deliver high quality, reliable, and accessible data.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Develop and execute the data engineering strategy aligned to the enterprise data 
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of data engineers 
  • Manage, and oversee the endtoend design, build, and optimization of data pipelines in GCP and Azure Databricks 
  • Build, prioritize, and manage the data ingestion backlog  
  • Define and champion best practices for data ingestion and silver layer architecture, data integrity and quality, and engineering excellence. 
  • Partner with product, analytics, cloud, and business leaders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions. 
  • Drive modernization initiatives, including migration to cloud-native data platforms, implementation of automation, and orchestration. 
  • Own engineering standards, development frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and operational reliability of data assets. 
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and resiliency of data systems through strong observability, monitoring, and incident management practices. 
  • Partner with data governance teams to uphold policies on metadata, lineage, access management, and data stewardship. 
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on data engineering capabilities, solution options, and technology decisions. 
  • Communicate technical concepts and project updates effectively to executives and non-technical partners. 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. 
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, including advanced cloud and modern data stack experience. 
  • 3+ years leading engineering teams or technical organizations. 
  • Expertise in modern data architecture (e.g., lakehouse, streaming, real-time ingestion, microservices-based pipelines). 
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, Spark, Airflow, and cloud-native data services (GCP and Azure). 
  • Experience with modern data warehouse technologies (BigQuery, Databricks, Azure Synapse). 
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data cataloging, and privacy controls. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build highly scalable, distributed, and enterprise-grade data systems. 
  • Strong people leadership skills with a passion for coaching and developing talent. 
  • Strong communicator with a proven track record of clearly presenting insights and recommendations to a wide range of stakeholders, adept at tailoring messaging and delivery to suit different audiences   
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize information and provide clear recommendations. 
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and initiative in driving technology optimization and operational improvements. 
  • Results-oriented self-starter with a bias toward action, capable of navigating complex, large-scale organizations and fostering strong cross-functional partnerships; experienced in stakeholder engagement within matrixed environments   
  • Highly curious and eager to learn, bringing an adaptable and creative mindset to problem-solving
