About the Role
The Director, Credit Portfolio Management is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, governance, and performance of Scotiabank’s International Wealth Management credit portfolio. This role provides enterprise level insight, leads modernization of portfolio and data infrastructure, and influences strategic decision making across multiple countries and stakeholder groups.
Reporting to the Managing Director, this role collaborates closely with Global Risk Management, International Wealth teams and executive committees to ensure the portfolio remains aligned with the Bank’s risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and business growth objectives.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Oversight
• Lead the strategic direction and governance of the Wealth credit portfolio across countries/regions, ensuring alignment with enterprise wide risk appetite and regulatory standards.
• Develop and enhance the Bank’s portfolio risk framework, including concentration limits, early warning indicators, and stress testing methodologies.
• Oversee consolidated portfolio reporting, ensuring accuracy, data integrity, and consistency across systems and processes.
Risk Analytics & Decision Support
• Provide enterprise level insights through advanced analytics, scenario modeling, and risk trend identification.
• Support executive level decision making by presenting emerging risks, portfolio themes, and strategic recommendations to governance committees.
• Partner with GRM to maintain a strong and well controlled credit environment.
Modernization & Transformation
• Lead modernization initiatives across tools, dashboards, and data architecture to build a scalable, forward looking portfolio analytics environment.
• Drive operational improvements that reduce risk, automate reporting, and increase transparency across the credit lifecycle.
• Support data integrity remediation and alignment across C360 and related systems.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
• Work closely with Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, GRM, Audit, Compliance, and International Wealth partners to ensure consistent risk practices.
• Act as a senior point of contact for portfolio level inquiries from auditors, regulators, and executive leadership.
• Influence underwriting standards and credit structures to support high quality client outcomes.
Leadership & Talent Development
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing team, fostering analytical excellence and a strong risk culture.
• Build portfolio management capabilities across the Wealth Lending & Credit Advisory team through training, frameworks, and best practice guidance.

Technical Skills & Experience
• 10+ years of progressive experience in credit risk, portfolio management, or lending within financial services.
• Proven experience managing multi country portfolios or cross jurisdictional credit environments.
• Strong knowledge of risk frameworks, portfolio analytics, regulatory expectations, and credit processes.
• Advanced ability to integrate and interpret data across multiple systems.
• Exceptional communication skills, with experience presenting to executive committees.
• Experience leading modernization, data, or reporting transformation initiatives.
• Spanish language skills are an asset.
Education & Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field (required).
• Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) strongly preferred.
• Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or CFP are considered an asset.
