POSITION SUMMARY:

 

THE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (BMPP) PLAYS A KEY ROLE IN SUPPORTING THE SAFE, EFFICIENT, AND RELIABLE OPERATION OF PLASTICS MANUFACTURING EQUIPMENT WITHIN OUR BLUE MOUNTAIN PLASTICS PACKAGING (BMPP) DIVISION AT THE FEVERSHAM FACILITY.

 

THIS ROLE COMBINES HANDS-ON ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL TROUBLESHOOTING WITH STRONG ON-SHIFT PRESENCE, SUPPORTING PRODUCTION TEAMS AND ENSURING SMOOTH WORKFLOW ACROSS ASSIGNED PROCESSING LINES. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE A TECHNICALLY STRONG TRADESPERSON WHO THRIVES IN A FAST-PACED MANUFACTURING ENVIRONMENT AND NATURALLY PROVIDES DIRECTION, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND SUPPORT TO OPERATORS DURING THEIR SHIFT.

Responsibilities

Maintenance & Technical Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Support operation and maintenance of plastics processing equipment including sheet extrusion, thermoforming, recycling systems, and injection molding equipment.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
  • Install, align, repair, and modify production equipment as required.
  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Fabricate, adjust, or replace components to maintain optimal performance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and adhere to all safety and lockout procedures.

Shift Support & Production Coordination:

  • Provide on-shift technical support and direction to production operators.
  • Assist in maintaining workflow efficiency and production standards.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts in real time to reduce downtime.
  • Reinforce safe work practices and operational consistency on shift.
  • Collaborate with production leadership to ensure smooth shift transitions and communication.

 

Education / Skills / Experience

  • Licensed Millwright (433A) or Electrician (309A or 442A), or 3rd year Apprentice or higher working toward certification.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in plastics processing, injection molding, thermoforming, extrusion, PET resin, or similar manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability in electrical and mechanical systems, including PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance software preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a production team.
  • Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of Health & Safety and Lockout/Tagout procedures.

 

Working Environment and Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and climbing stairs or ladders.
  • Exposure to noise, moving machinery, heat, and plastics manufacturing conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry components as required.
  • Required use of appropriate PPE at all times.

 

PAY RATE:

$31.75-41.75/HR - DEPENDING ON APPRENTICESHIP/CERTIFICATION LEVEL AND EXPERIENCE
