We are seeking a Power Platform Automation Engineer to design, build, and support low‑code automation solutions using Microsoft Power Automate and Power Apps. This role focuses on eliminating manual processes, improving operational efficiency, and enabling scalable, secure automation across the enterprise.

You will work closely with business stakeholders, M365 platform teams, and governance partners to deliver reliable, well‑architected automation solutions aligned with organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Automation & Application Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power Automate cloud and desktop flows to automate business processes across Microsoft 365 and integrated systems
  • Build Power Apps (Canvas and Model‑Driven) to support automated workflows and user-facing process solutions
  • Develop reusable components, connectors, and standardized automation patterns
  • Integrate Power Platform solutions with SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Excel, Dataverse, and approved third‑party systems
  • Implement approvals, notifications, data synchronization, and exception handling workflows

Engineering & Platform Practices

  • Apply software engineering principles (versioning, error handling, logging, documentation) to low‑code solutions
  • Support ALM for Power Platform, including solution packaging, environment separation (Dev/Test/Prod), and deployments
  • Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of automation solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production automations and apps

Governance, Security & Compliance

  • Ensure solutions comply with Power Platform governance, security, and data loss prevention (DLP) policies
  • Follow enterprise standards for identity, access control, auditing, and data handling
  • Partner with platform and risk teams to review and approve automation designs

Collaboration & Enablement

  • Work with business teams to identify automation opportunities and translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Provide technical guidance and best practices to citizen developers
  • Contribute to documentation, templates, and internal knowledge bases
  • Participate in Power Platform communities of practice and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience building solutions with Microsoft Power Automate and Power Apps
  • Strong understanding of Power Platform connectors, triggers, actions, and expressions
  • Experience integrating Power Platform with Microsoft 365 services (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Excel)
  • Familiarity with Dataverse, security roles, and data modeling
  • Hands‑on experience with Power Platform ALM and environments
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to design resilient automation solutions

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Experience with RPA (desktop flows, attended/unattended)
  • Understanding of Power Platform governance, DLP, and licensing models
  • Experience using Copilot or AI Builder within Power Platform solutions
  • Background in M365 platform engineering, cloud services, or enterprise IT environments
  • Microsoft Power Platform certifications (PL‑100, PL‑200, PL‑400)

Salary:
$75,900.00 - $141,900.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
