Here's the Scoop – Summary

The Production Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing production schedules that align with customer demand, inventory targets, and operational capacity. 

This role works closely with Production, Procurement, Quality, and Logistics to ensure efficient material flow, optimal resource utilization, and on-time delivery while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

What a typical day looks like:

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on demand forecasts, customer orders, available capacity, and inventory levels

  • Balance production priorities to meet service, cost, and efficiency targets

  • Adjust production plans in response to changes in demand, material availability, equipment constraints, or labor capacity.

Inventory & Materials Coordination

  • Collaborate with Procurement and Warehouse teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and packaging

  • Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages, excess stock, or obsolescence

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Logistics teams to align schedules and resolve constraints

  • Participate in daily production meetings and planning reviews

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Track schedule adherence, plan attainment, and key planning KPIs

  • Analyze production performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and planning accuracy

Continuous Improvement

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, and inventory management

  • Contribute to standard work documentation and best practices

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred

  • 2–5 years of experience in production planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations

  • Experience in high-volume or regulated manufacturing environments considered an asset

  • Strong understanding of production planning and scheduling principles

  • Proficient with ERP systems and advanced Excel or planning tools

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • High attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset

Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based with regular interaction on the production floor

  • May require occasional extended hours to support schedule changes or business needs
