IT Systems Administrator

Ottawa, ON (Hybrid) – Full-time

Position Summary

We have a current vacancy for an IT Systems Administrator to join our Team in Ottawa, ON. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, installing & maintaining various networks and environments in the integration lab and providing direct 1st and 2nd line support to various projects.

Essential Functions

  • Support developer and R&D project requests, providing end-user application support and coordinating with team leads about issues or risks.
  • Install, integrate, and implement new applications and methodologies for stable software integration and repeatable testing.
  • Manage labs inventory, Active Directory environments, and ensure ongoing data storage and disaster recovery operations.
  • Administer and maintain network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, and switches, ensuring adequate antivirus protection is in place.
  • Conduct system performance testing and analyze, investigate, document, and report on information security matters as needed.
  • Produce detailed documentation (e.g., network design, installation support) and recommend improvements for compute, storage, and network resources.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of IS/IT experience and a Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Computer Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, MS Office Suites, Group Policy Management, ESXi configuration, and TCP/IP protocols.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to build strong relationships across the business.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a Windows Server and SharePoint administrator, with strong skills in troubleshooting Windows and Linux server/client environments.
  • Solid understanding of IS/IT infrastructure, including networking, security, and hardware, and hands-on experience using VCenter to create and manage environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, PHP, and Batch, with familiarity with Azure cloud solutions.

The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash (TTC) 68,000.00 – 83,000.00 CAD Annual.

This reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs. This range helps the Company make pay decisions as one data point among many. Where a position falls within this range is also dependent on other factors including – but not limited to – the employee’s career path history, competencies, skills and performance, as well as the company’s annual salary budget, the customer’s program requirements, and the company’s internal equity. Thales may offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law.
