In line with Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) direction, the Department of National Defence has adopted a common hybrid work model where employees work at their designated worksite at least 3 days each week, or 60% of their regular schedule. Some positions may require full-time on-site presence.

Conditions of employment

CoE1: Security levels: Reliability
CoE2: An acceptable* driver's abstract provided within 30 days of request, dated no earlier than 30
days prior to the request.
*Acceptable as determined by management.
CoE3: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of National Defence (DND) driver’s license (DND 404).
CoE4: Must willing and able to work up to 13 hours within a 24-hour period, in accordance with the applicable Collective Agreement and Federal Hours of Service regulations.
CoE5: Must be willing and able to work in inclement weather conditions in accordance with the applicable Collective Agreement.
CoE6: Must be willing and able to attend employer directed training.
CoE7: Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
GL-MDO-05 (Light Vehicle)
OC1. Possession of a valid unrestricted Class 2 driver’s license (Class C in Ontario) valid in the province of work.
GL-MDO-05 (Heavy Vehicle) and GL-MDO-06
OC2. Possession of a valid unrestricted Class 1 (Class A in Ontario) driver’s license with air brake endorsement (Class Z in Ontario) valid in the province of work.
Note: Restriction number one (glasses) is not applicable.

EXPERIENCE
GL-MDO-05 (Light Vehicle Only)
EX1: Experience in operating various passenger vehicles, including a commuter bus (40 passenger) or larger.
GL-MDO-05 (Heavy Vehicle) and GL-MDO-06
EX2: Experience in operating tractor-trailers.
GL-MDO-06 Only
EX3: Experience in operating heavy equipment with hydraulics such as excavators, graders or street sweepers.

EXPERIENCE
AEX1: Experience in long haul driving.
AEX2: Experience in performing operator inspection and maintenance on one or more of the following commercial vehicles: 49 Passenger Buses (minimum size), 5 Ton Cargo trucks, Tractor-Trailer combination vehicles.
AEX3: Experience in the transportation of dangerous goods.
AEX4: Experience operating powered Materiel Handling Equipment.
AEX5: Experience in handling and tying downloads on vehicles or trailers.
AEX6: Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications, such as, Excel, Word and Outlook.
AEX7: Experience working with Federal Government transportation policies.
AEX8: Experience using load chart regulations.
AEX9: Experience in operating cranes, 30 tonne and below
AEX10: Experience working or volunteering in an environment that includes both military and civilian personnel.
