Advise. Align. Transform.

BMO Commercial Banking is embarking on a multi‑year transformation to redefine how it delivers value to clients and empowers its people. This role sits at the center of that journey.

As a Commercial Transformation Consultant, you will operate as an internal strategy and transformation advisor to senior leaders—shaping the vision, structuring the roadmap, and driving alignment across the enterprise. You will combine strategy consulting rigor, executive storytelling, and hands‑on execution to ensure transformation efforts translate into meaningful business outcomes.

This is a high‑impact role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, influences without authority, and can move seamlessly from board‑level narrative to operational detail.

Your Mandate

Define the “North Star” for Commercial Banking

  • Develop and articulate a clear, compelling transformation narrative that explains why change is required, what the future looks like, and how the bank will get there.
  • Ensure transformation initiatives are explicitly linked to client value, employee experience, and strategic objectives.

Architect the Transformation Agenda

  • Design and maintain an enterprise-aligned transformation roadmap, supported by OKRs and clear success measures.
  • Integrate major initiatives (e.g., customer self‑service, lending transformation, operating model evolution) into a cohesive, sequenced plan.
  • Pressure‑test feasibility, identify dependencies, and inform leadership decision‑making.

Act as a Trusted Advisor to Senior Leaders

  • Serve as a forward‑deployed consultant to Commercial Banking leadership, helping define priorities, clarify trade‑offs, and align on future capabilities.
  • Prepare executive‑ready materials and storytelling for the Commercial Banking Transformation Committee (CBTC) and related forums.
  • Lead and structure CBTC monthly planning, progress, and alignment sessions.

Drive Real Change—Beyond Technology

  • Ensure transformation efforts address operating model implications, including roles, governance, processes, and ways of working.
  • Drive clarity on what must change in how the business operates—not just what systems are implemented.
  • Help leaders move from strategy decks to executable actions.

What You’ll Deliver

  • A shared, enterprise‑wide transformation vision that resonates with leaders and teams.
  • Strong, sustained alignment across stakeholders on priorities and sequencing.
  • Transformation programs that are credible, executable, and value‑driven.
  • Leaders equipped with the narrative, tools, and confidence to lead change.

Profile of an Ideal Candidate

  • Former or current management consultant, or equivalent experience in strategy, transformation, or internal advisory roles.
  • Exceptional structured thinking and storytelling skills—able to simplify complexity without losing substance.
  • Demonstrated experience building and executing large‑scale transformation agendas.
  • Comfort operating with senior executives and influencing diverse stakeholders.
  • Pragmatic, action‑oriented, and intellectually curious.

Why This Role

  • Hybrid working model with 4 days per week in office, enabling close collaboration.
  • High visibility with senior Commercial Banking leadership.
  • Opportunity to shape the future operating model of a leading North American bank.
  • A rare internal role that mirrors external consulting impact and responsibility.
