Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of Government Affairs in Canada by providing leadership and strategic planning of the Bank’s Canadian government engagement, including all levels of government.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will be responsible for:
Leads the development and implementation of a strategic Canadian government engagement strategy in support of our overall government affairs and advocacy objectives, working closely with various stakeholders across the Bank, particularly in Public Affairs across regional hubs and business lines
Implementation of the plan will include liaising and speaking directly with elected and unelected government officials and other relevant stakeholders and support engagement of senior executives.
Communicates emerging issues or opportunities to internal stakeholders and identifies timely solutions and policy advice, where applicable. Actively solicits input from colleagues and other internal groups to provide advice, resources and insights to senior executives as they look to achieve their public policy and advocacy objectives across Canada.
Adapt to shifting business and/or government and priorities and looks for opportunities to engage government stakeholders with relevant and timely information, while maintaining focus on key objectives.
Manage and support government requests or complaints and ensure timely responses and engagement where necessary.
Manage and maintain lobbying policies/regulatory obligations in various jurisdictions.
Contributes to the effective functioning of the Global Corporate Affairs team by fostering effective working relationships across the function and creating a collaborative culture based on transparency, enterprise-wide thinking, and innovation.
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
