About the Opportunity

Altis Recruitment is proud to partner with a values-driven organization within the Broader Public Sector to support the recruitment of a Human Resources Business Partner for a 3-month contract. Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, this role joins a collaborative team of five HR Business Partners, each supporting their own client portfolio.

In this role, you’ll act as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, delivering both strategic insight and hands-on HR support. Working within a purpose-led and inclusive environment, you’ll help navigate complex employee relations matters, support respectful workplaces, and contribute to solutions that positively impact people and culture. Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll provide practical guidance to managers and employees on employee relations, collective agreements, and HR policies
  • In this role, you’ll lead workplace investigations, manage employee complaints, and support conflict resolution processes
  • You’ll advise leaders on the interpretation and application of collective agreements and employment legislation
  • You’ll coach managers on performance management, attendance issues, and respectful workplace practices
  • You’ll oversee return-to-work, attendance management, and accommodation processes in collaboration with internal partners
  • You’ll partner with leaders and HR colleagues to support recruitment, onboarding, and engagement initiatives

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including HR advisory or business partner responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience working in both unionized and non-unionized environments
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, collective agreements, and policy interpretation
  • Proven ability to manage complex and sensitive employee relations matters
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across all organizational levels
  • CPHR designation or progress toward certification is considered an asset
  • Experience working with or supporting First Nations, Inuit, or Métis communities is a strong asset
