The Campus Safety & Dispatch Officer serves as a frontline member of the Campus Public Safety team, playing a critical role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all members of the Simon Fraser University community. This hybrid position combines operational public safety duties with emergency communications responsibilities, making the officer a key first point of contact for campus safety and security.
In this role, the officer actively participates in patrol, response, and community engagement activities while also receiving and responding to emergency and non-emergency calls. They provide timely, accurate information and coordinate the dispatch of campus security, medical, or emergency response teams to incidents ranging from medical emergencies to safety and security concerns. Working in dynamic and often high-pressure situations, the Campus Safety & Dispatch Officer must remain calm, composed, and focused, consistently demonstrating professionalism, sound judgment, and service excellence.
