Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer in Training to support the delivery of Airports projects across British Columbia. In this role, you will contribute EIT support to various Airports and related projects under the guidance and supervision of a senior engineer/designer. This is a great entry level opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • With guidance from Airside Civil Engineers, assist with the preparation and distributions of high quality, accurate and timely documents such as: drawings, reports, minutes, communication logs, change management, and other required documentation.

  • Support Project Manager(s) / Director(s) in project delivery through initiation, planning, execution, monitor and control, and close-out activities and other PM support tasks.

  • Conduct material quantity take-offs, analysis/calculations, hand sketches, CAD Drafting, and other EIT support tasks.

  • Assist in reviewing drawings, drafting technical reports, memorandums and other technical documents.

  • Perform contract administration, coordination, contract development and other contract support tasks.

  • Participate and coordinate project team activities and interact effectively with Clients, Contractors, Engineers, Project Managers, and other consultants.

  • Coordinate and participate in technical proposal writing and other business development activities.

  • Some travel may be required from time to time.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong computer skills and literacy in scheduling, technical writing, presentation, and other software including MS Power Point, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project.

  • Foundational understanding of engineering design and relevant software, which may include some or all of the following: Civil3D, AutoCAD, AviPlan, ArcGIS, AutoTurn, FAARFIELD 2.0, and GIS,

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

  • General understanding of a project lifecycle including design and construction processes and requirements.

  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications and technical documentation.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments.

  • Must be able to successfully work both collaboratively and independently.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 1 year of previous work experience in Civil Engineering. Previous exposure to Airports projects would be considered an asset.

  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training with EGBC or ability to obtain within the next 6 months.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:

• Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC & Various locations in Ontario-$63,300.00 - $88,600.00 Annually

• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$67,100.00 - $93,900.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
