Contributes to the overall success of the Canadian Banking Finance, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Provide executives with coverage of the Canadian banking industry, monitor trends of competing banks, conduct review and analysis of equity research reports and help to provide recommendations that will enhance the Canadian Bank’s financial results
  • Assist in developing various financial projections & models in an effort to support projects and forecast the results of the Canadian Bank, which will include interpreting financial data across business lines/product areas and incorporating the most recent economic information, in order to provide timely guidance towards achieving the Canadian Bank’s longer-term financial targets
  • Support stakeholder relationship management with key business lines, product groups, Investor Relations, Strategy, Global Finance, Group Treasury, Global Wealth Management, and Global Risk Management
  • Work closely with other teams in Canadian Banking Finance, in order to provide additional resourcing and support for special projects or during periods of peak demand
  • Leverage digital solutions to seek ways to enhance competitive benchmarking activities by streamlining operational and analytical processes, reducing operational risk, and improving the effectiveness of reporting
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions

 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  •  MBA, CFA, MFin or CPA preferred
  • Prior experience conducting detailed competitive benchmarking and financial analysis on the banking industry.
  • Additional knowledge or experience with Canadian Banking Retail and Commercial banking products also considered an asset in this role
  • At least 5 years of work experience in finance and/or accounting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Material knowledge of the Financial Institutions industry and their products/businesses
  • High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and other MS Office products
  • Built complex dynamic financial models
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI and an interest in AI utilization are considered assets in this role
