About the Opportunity

Altis Recruitment is partnering with a growing, technology-enabled professional services firm in the accounting and tax space to support the addition of a Tax & Accounting Associate to their close-knit team.

This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced tax professionals in a collaborative environment where you are encouraged to learn, contribute ideas, and build long-term expertise. You will support a diverse client base and gain hands-on exposure to tax compliance, planning, and advisory work, while leveraging modern tools and cloud-based systems that move beyond traditional firm models.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will support tax compliance and accounting engagements across multiple clients.

  • You will prepare individual, corporate, and trust tax returns using established tools and processes.

  • In this role, you will assist with tax planning initiatives, reorganizations, and M&A-related projects.

  • You will manage monthly bookkeeping, HST filings, and annual return preparation for assigned clients.

  • You will collaborate with senior team members to communicate with tax authorities and resolve client matters.

  • You will contribute to process improvements and the effective use of cloud-based accounting technologies.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 2 to 3 years of relevant tax and accounting experience within public practice or professional services

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline

  • CPA designation in progress or enrollment in the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course preferred

  • Experience with tax preparation software and cloud-based accounting platforms such as QuickBooks or Xero

  • Strong Excel skills, including Power Query, and comfort working with new technologies

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a team environment
