Location: Hybrid, in DT Toronto office about 3 days per week, Canada, 
Job Type: Contract, full-time hours

Compensation: $85-105/hour depending on experience

About the Opportunity
Join a fast-moving team within a large financial services environment where reliability matters. In this contract role, you will keep critical Java-based REST APIs healthy across production and non-production, ensuring customers and internal systems run smoothly.
You will collaborate across squads, jump into incidents, and stabilize automated test suites. If you love solving problems, reading docs, and making incremental improvements that add up, this is for you.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will monitor and support Java REST APIs across environments, responding to incidents and vulnerabilities.

  • You will maintain and improve end-to-end automated test suites and ensure they run reliably.

  • In this role, you will triage issues with partner teams, propose fixes, and implement incremental improvements.

  • You will contribute to Agile ceremonies and continuously improve software quality, security, and delivery.

  • You will mentor junior engineers and promote good engineering habits.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 8+ years of Java application development, strong backend and REST API experience.

  • Experience with cloud platforms, AWS, GCP, or Azure, and familiarity with API management.

  • Comfort with automated testing and CI/CD, Jenkins experience is an asset.

  • Knowledge of SQL or NoSQL and persistence frameworks is beneficial, Hibernate is a plus.

  • Proactive communicator who can navigate documentation, Slack, and enterprise support channels.
