Job Title: Cyber Security Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Officer

Location: Ideally based in Ottawa, ON. This can also be a remote position. The employee must reside and work from anywhere within Canada.

Job Type: 12 month Fixed Term Contract

Clearance: Enhanced Reliability Clearance required

Language: English required, written and spoken. Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset

Compensation: $90k - $110k

As a Cyber Security GRC Officer, your work directly contributes to protecting systems that enable critical programs and services nationwide, making a real and lasting impact beyond technology alone.

Working alongside experienced technology and business partners, you will help strengthen governance, manage risk, and ensure compliance across a diverse and evolving digital environment.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll lead technical control reviews and compliance reporting to ensure information systems meet regulatory and security standards.
  • In this role, you’ll conduct information risk assessments and provide guidance aligned with industry frameworks such as ISO and NIST.
  • You’ll monitor and measure security practices across technologies and business processes to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • You’ll collaborate with stakeholders to update, develop, and embed information security policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • You’ll contribute to security awareness initiatives that integrate information security into broader business strategies.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in cyber security governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) roles
  • Experience with security audits, vulnerability assessments, intrusion detection, firewalls, and TCP/IP environments
  • Strong experience in technical documentation and writing IT security policies
  • Ability to balance business risk with practical security controls and policy development
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • Clear communicator with strong documentation skills and a collaborative, client-focused mindset
  • Enhanced Reliability Clearance required
