Contributes to the overall success of the GTEP – Infrastructure Operations (Private Cloud/VMOPs) Globally ensuring systems level support for production critical systems, development systems, implementation support and user acceptance environment support. This support comprises of technical assistance to users, prevention of problems in a 7x24 production environment, systems capacity planning and recommendation of solutions to overcome resource constraints, systems level software installation and updates. Also, specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the department’s strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 

 

 

Is this role right for you?

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Presented with system level and application problems on mission critical systems requiring immediate resolution, ensuring systems are operational based on SLA and have a high degree of integrity and reliability. Often, resolution determination requires interaction with service vendors.
  • Considerable effort is placed into determining, developing, and delivering procedures to protect production environment from unplanned outages.
  • Establishes system scope and objectives.
  • Develops practical manual or automated procedures to solve complex problems.
  • Prepares detailed specifications for programs, analyse, and review existing system logic deficiencies, oversees all phases of the technical system design and provide recommendations, check and direct systems programs onto the correct technical system design.
  • Recommendations are put forward to management for capacity planning and system upgrades where resource constraints are identified to ensure that a reliable production environment is maintained.
  • Troubleshooting VMWare virtualization Configuration and environmental performance.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-today activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • A strong working knowledge of Intel hardware configuration and support.
  • A strong working knowledge of Windows server Operating Systems.
  • A strong working knowledge of shell/script programming.
  • A good working knowledge of clustering technologies
  • A good working knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
  • A good working knowledge of virtualization platforms.
  • Requires a minimum of five years of job-related experience and possess
  • problem solving, analytical and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • General understanding of other computer systems outside area of specialty
  • such as other Operating systems or database software.
