Working closely with the Board of Directors, senior leaders, and external partners, you will be both a strategic advisor and a hands-on leader. Your work will directly support governance, stewardship, and the well-being of employees and members, making this an ideal role for someone who values purpose alongside professional excellence.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll lead end-to-end financial operations, including monthly and annual reporting, audits, budgeting, cash flow management, and regulatory filings.
  • In this role, you’ll partner closely with the Board of Directors, auditors, legal counsel, and financial institutions to support strong governance and compliance.
  • You’ll oversee payroll, benefits administration, insurance coverage, and investment reporting with accuracy and care.
  • You’ll manage and mentor accounting staff, fostering clarity, accountability, and professional growth.
  • You’ll guide all human resources activities, from recruitment and onboarding to performance management, policy development, and compliance.
  • You’ll oversee occupational health and safety requirements, training, and government reporting, ensuring best practices are consistently applied.
  • Handle required filings, including T3010 charity returns, trust filings, and personal tax returns for affiliated individuals.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • CPA designation with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including audit participation
  • Proven leadership experience within a not-for-profit or charitable organization
  • Strong knowledge of payroll, HR practices, and employment legislation
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to advise senior leaders and boards
  • High level of discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, with QuickBooks experience considered an asset
