About the Opportunity

This is a senior leadership opportunity to shape and strengthen the financial foundation of a mission-driven, national non-profit organization with humanitarian impact. As Director of Finance, you will play a hands-on role in ensuring financial integrity, operational excellence, and compliance in support of programs that make a meaningful difference in communities locally and globally.

Working closely with the CFO and senior leadership team, you will lead a growing finance function that supports a diverse, collaborative workforce. You will partner across fundraising, programs, and operations, translating complex financial information into clear insights that help teams make confident, informed decisions.

What’s in it for You

You will join an organization where purpose is at the heart of the work and finance is seen as a strategic partner. This is a workplace that values learning, flexibility, and continuous improvement, offering paid professional development, CPA support, and leadership that is deeply invested in onboarding and long-term success. You will also benefit from generous time off, employer-paid benefits, RRSP contributions, and inclusive policies that respect personal and religious commitments.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will lead day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • In this role, you will ensure compliance with accounting standards, CRA regulations, and internal controls.
  • You will mentor and develop a finance team of approximately 10, including direct oversight of management-level leaders.
  • You will partner with senior leaders and the board to provide clear financial analysis and decision support.
  • You will lead audit planning, statutory filings, and external stakeholder relationships.
  • You will champion process improvement initiatives, including system enhancements and change management across people, process, and technology.

  • 5+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally within a non-profit or similar-sized organization
  • CPA designation is required
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, compliance, and cash flow management
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and inspire high-performing teams
  • Experience simplifying complex financial concepts for non-financial audiences
  • A change-oriented mindset with a track record of process improvement
  • Eligibility to work in Canada
