This is a hybrid role in Halifax, NS (east coast). Note that role can be hired in Ottawa, ON and Victoria, BC (west coast)
Position Summary
The AJISS Condition Based Monitoring Specialist is responsible for establishing a Condition Based Program using Equipment Health Monitoring (EHM) techniques for the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) and Joint Support Ship (JSS) Classes. The CBM Engineer will establish EHM, analyze the data, provide recommendations for improvement and implement approved processes.
Key Areas of Responsibility
• Develop the CBM program for the AOPS and JSS Classes aligned with DND EHM policies and procedures.
• Communicate with customers as the primary technical interface.
• Provide Engineering and Technical support to AJISS Enterprise including DND Technical Authorities.
• Support customer operations, anticipate operational problems and contribute to the improvement of system / equipment operation.
• Co-ordinate, plan, organise, lead and control EHM activities within delegated authorities and responsibilities.
• Co-ordinate and analyze EHM results and make efficiency recommendations to Integrated Logistics Support team for modification to maintenance tasks and schedule.
• Observe and study system / equipment functionality, operating modes and performance results.
• Collect, analyze and summarize operating and engineering data, analyze trends, study system / equipment limitations, interpret alarms.
• Conduct technical investigations by testing and reporting of problems associated with equipment and/or system malfunctions including failure analysis and solution development.
• Analyze requirements associated with baseline changes to product.
• Review drawings and technical documents.
• Prepare engineering documentation in support of vessel maintenance improvements.
• Resolve problems and deficiencies.
• Assist in the conduct of pre and post maintenance period condition assessments.
• Assist in the resolution of Operational Defects (OPDEFs).
• Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with task requirements and/or the design and build characteristics of the vessels.
• Support general engineering and technical activities as required.
• Ensure compliance with relevant Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTOs).
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor of engineering degree or college diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Naval Architecture.
• 5 years experience in a marine or related environment
• 5 years experience developing or executing a Condition Based Maintenance program involving various Equipment Health Monitoring techniques
• Language: English (Essential),
Preferred Qualifications
• Post graduate or technical qualifications and experience in Planned Maintenance (PM), Condition Based Maintenance, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Reactive Maintenance.
• Previous experience working with a defence contract
• Project Management
• Language: Ability to communicate in French
Physical Demands
• Predominantly office work but will be required to work in dockyards and onboard Naval ships
• Maybe required to undertake inspections in machinery spaces of Naval ships involving climbing, bending and twisting
