About the Opportunity

This newly created Business Development Lead role is designed for a senior, relationship-driven professional who knows how to grow business through credibility, trust, and a strong professional network. You’ll step into a highly autonomous position where your experience and judgment shape how opportunities are identified, developed, and closed.

Working within an innovation-focused, economic development style organization, you’ll partner closely with entrepreneurs, technology leaders, and internal stakeholders to support growth across Canada. Your work will have a direct impact on how organizations access opportunities, funding, and strategic connections, making this a role where influence and purpose go hand in hand.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll lead new business development efforts, primarily within the private sector, using your existing network to open doors.
  • You’ll build and maintain trusted relationships with senior decision-makers across multiple industries.
  • You’ll represent the organization at networking events, conferences, and industry functions.
  • You’ll drive opportunities from initial conversation through to close, with full ownership of the process.
  • You’ll support provincial and municipal public-sector opportunities, including RFPs and funding applications.
  • You’ll help develop pitch materials, presentations, and a practical CRM approach to manage leads.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 4+ years of successful, hands-on business development or sales experience.
  • Proven ability to sell into the private sector with confidence and credibility.
  • Experience supporting public-sector opportunities, including successful RFPs or submissions.
  • Background in technology-related industries, with exposure to cloud, security, electronics, or similar sectors considered an asset.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, paired with a self-directed and strategic mindset.
