Scotiabank is seeking a highly skilled Principal Senior Automation Engineer to join our Global Network Engineering (GNE) team. This role blends leadership of a small team of automation engineers with individual technical expertise within development of network automation and maintaining automation systems.
Network automation is primarily delivered through our in-house application, Argus, which is the source of truth for network inventory, handles compliance and provides reporting used for various purposes including hardware and software currency.

• Experience maintaining infrastructure
• Develop and maintain software tools for network automation and monitoring
• Design and implement network configurations and security policies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions to optimize network activities including governance, compliance, audit, reporting, health checks, network implementations
• Contribute to pipelines and infrastructure-as-code deployments
• Document technical processes and maintain version control

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of:
• articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• translating business objectives into clear technical objectives
• Strong interpersonal and relationships management skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Demonstrates proactivity and accountability
• Ability to analyze logs, metrics and performance data
• Knowledge of DevOps practices
• Skilled in coding languages: Python, Java, JavaScript, Anduril, Go (Golang)
• Hardware and software currency of network devices
• Vulnerability management
• Familiarity
• Networking technical knowledge:
• Core networking knowledge (routing & switching, load balancing, firewalls, DNS, etc)
• Familiarity with network vendors: Cisco, Fortinet, f5, Infoblox, Gigamon, NetBrain, etc
• Internet and Extranet DMZs
• SD-WAN
• Client and P2P VPN
• Cloud technologies
• Monitoring and network performance tools
• Degree or diploma in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or Networking
• CCNA or CCNP certification is an asset
