Our Winnipeg office is looking for Summer Students to join our Community Development Team for a 4-6-month work term from May 2026 – October 2026.

As a Summer Student, you will be working on Residential, Commercial and Institutional infrastructure projects for our Field Services Team, as part of our Community Development Business Centre. The primary responsibilities for this role are varied; however generally involve assisting the Survey Crew Chief with Surveying duties. All projects are within the City of Winnipeg and in surrounding communities. You must be very attentive to detail, well organized, have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to prioritize multiple tasks as required. You must be committed to teamwork, as you may be working with multiple project teams on multiple infrastructure projects, in a very fast paced and dynamic work environment.

COMPENSATION: Starting @ $23.00/hr. approx., term May – October 2026 approx., 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 5 days per week (overtime maybe required)

Role and Responsibilities

  • Perform construction surveys using GNSS (GPS), electronic total station, and conventional survey equipment.

  • Assist a crew chief in providing survey for site grading, water-mains, storm and sanitary sewers, lot services, roadway and shallow utility construction layout.

  • Assist in transferring survey data to the proper folder locations.

  • Communicate effectively with members of the team and follow standard procedures.

  • Responsible for safe operation of tools and equipment.

  • Assist in taking care of Company issued survey equipment.

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Successful completion of 1st year Civil Technology as a minimum.

  • Physically able to work on construction sites in all types of weather conditions

  • Proven ability to learn and take direction

  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle required

  • Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings would be an asset

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
