Intent of the process
The immediate need is to fill two (2) English essential positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis at Halifax, Nova Scotia. This process will also be used to fill one (1) position on a temporary basis at Greenwood, Nova Scotia.
A pool of essentially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the Department of National Defence.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
-A valid Power Engineer Class 2 or Class 3.
-Valid provincial or territorial driver's license.
-Must be able and willing to obtain and maintain the Departmental Driver’s License, DND 404 (applicable only to HP-03 positions).
-Must be able and willing to work shift work and overtime.
-Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as respirators, protective footwear, etc.
-Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, in confined spaces, from ladders and scaffolds, and perform heavy lifting.
-Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
OC1: HP-03 Only
Minimum A valid Power Engineer Class 3 Certification.
OC2: HP-04
Minimum A valid Power Engineer Class 2 Certification.
Applicants must register with the jurisdiction, within the province of work if you do not possess a certification for the jurisdiction.
EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience assisting in the operation and maintenance of a Heating Plant*
OR
EX2: Experience operating a Heating Plant*
EX3: Experience applying Provincial and Federal legislation associated with power engineering.
EX4: Experience following safety practices relevant to the position.
EX5: Experience using basic Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).
*Definition of Heating Plant - Contains high and low pressure boilers, oil and gas burners, pressure vessels, feed water systems, heat exchangers, liquid and gaseous fuel systems, chemical feed systems, compressed air systems, auxiliary equipment and heating systems.

ASSET OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
AOC1: Possession of an interprovincial ticket in relevant field.
AOC2: A valid Power Engineer Class 1 Certification.
ASSET EXPERIENCE
AE1: Experience performing testing, including keeping records for heating equipment.
AE2: Experience with refrigeration systems.
