Intent of the process
The Department of National Defence (DND) is entering a pivotal period of transformation and growth, driven by evolving national and global geopolitical priorities. This expansion reflects our commitment to strengthening Canada’s defence capabilities, modernizing operations, and advancing strategic initiatives.
As we rise to meet these evolving challenges, DND is seeking skilled and dedicated professionals to help shape the future of Canada’s defence. Several targeted recruitment initiatives are underway to attract diverse talent across a wide range of disciplines, enhancing our ability to deliver on strategic and operational objectives.
The intent of this process is to build a dynamic pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates to fill current and future vacancies across DND’s operational landscape. These can be of various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions of employment. Successful candidates may be considered for a range of meaningful opportunities that support our evolving mandate and contribute directly to Canada’s defence and security.
The appointed candidate must meet all essential qualifications and conditions of employment and be administered the Oath before being appointed to the position. Administration of the Oath concerns individuals appointed from outside the public service.

Conditions of employment
Reliability Status security clearance - & Secret & Top Secret
For positions to be staffed that require a Top Secret or Enhanced Top Secret security clearance as a condition of employment, please note that this clearance can only be granted to individuals who have Canadian citizenship.

You need (essential for the job)
Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma
OR
an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
OR
have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma.
Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
- Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
- Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the AS classification.

EXPERIENCES
• Experience researching, analyzing and interpreting Information Management policies or directives to provide advice or services to clients.
• Experience using advanced features of Microsoft applications such as, but not limited to, track changes, columns, custom templates (Word), pivot tables, conditional formatting, macros (Excel) Animations, Speaker Coach (Power Point) and Focus Inbox and Scheduling for Outlook.
• Experience in administering web-based information management architecture such as but not limited to, SharePoint or GCDocs. (e.g. file classification plans, assigning permissions, defining retention schedules, etc.).
• Experience researching, analyzing and manipulating data to produce various type of reports or presentations.
Note: Experience can be gained within or outside the workplace (including volunteering, schoolwork, and community engagement).

ASSET EXPERIENCES
• Experience applying information technology principles, methods, policies, practices or tools.
• Experience in coordinating and delivering Information Management training sessions.
• Experience in Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) operations, including but not limited to logging requests, analyzing records, consulting with partners, and applying legislative exemptions.
• Experience in supervising employees.
*Note: Experience can be gained within or outside the workplace (including volunteering, schoolwork, and community engagement).
Asset qualifications may be invoked as essential qualifications.
