The Role

Join our dynamic Derivative Settlements Operations / Settlements & Clearing team in Canada and play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and accurate settlement of complex derivative transactions. You will contribute to the team’s success by executing operational activities, mitigating risk, and supporting strategic initiatives - all while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Champion a client-focused culture by building strong relationships and leveraging broader Bank resources to deliver exceptional service.
  • Manage day-to-day settlement activities, including:
      • Completing daily settlements for derivative products
      • Investigating and resolving settlement disputes with clients and counterparties
      • Performing post-settlement reconciliations of cash and accounting breaks
      • Distributing rate reset notifications and MTM reporting
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Front Office, Product Control, IT) to ensure timely and accurate processes and resolve discrepancies with urgency.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for clients, providing timely and insightful feedback on settlement-related inquiries.
  • Develop expertise in derivative products, including Cross Currency Swaps, Credit Default Swaps, FX Options, Equity Options, and more.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring robust controls and cross-training for coverage.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with operational risk, regulatory requirements, AML/ATF guidelines, and conduct risk frameworks.
  • Contribute to a high-performance and inclusive work environment that values collaboration and continuous improvement.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field
  • Solid understanding of derivative products and settlement lifecycle
  • 1+ year of experience in Capital Markets Operations or similar environment
  • Hands-on experience with settlement systems and trade capture platforms
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and other data analysis tools
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to Capital Markets operations
  • Understanding of operational risk controls and compliance frameworks (AML/ATF, Conduct Risk)
  • Ability to perform reconciliations and resolve settlement discrepancies
  • Familiarity with MTM reporting and rate reset processes
  • Exposure to a wide range of derivative products, including:
      • Cross Currency Swaps
      • Credit Default Swaps
      • FX Options
      • Equity Options
      • Forward Rate Agreements
      • Swaptions
      • Caps, Floors, and other structured products
