The Senior Manager provides process management support with a focus on optimizing the overall efficiency of Global HR Services across all functional areas. You will identify and implement process improvements that enhance employee experience and generate operational efficiencies and profitability. The Senior Manager, Program Planning and Execution uses their experience and direct client feedback to improve the quality of key processes that impact our employees. You will be responsible for the implementation and sustainment of high complexity operational excellence strategies and plans and are responsible for analyzing the success of implemented strategies as well as current organizational processes. You will contribute to the overall success of Global HR Services by ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.   

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Work with the Director and GHRS business leaders to conduct process assessments and identify improvement opportunities and recommend solutions to business challenges. 
  • Act as the prime delegate on behalf of the Director, Program Planning and Execution.
  • Play a leadership role within the Program Planning and Execution team, coaching and guiding the team towards successful execution of plans and activities
  • Translate recommendations into actionable plans with measurable outcomes in alignment with business objectives.
  • Manage a portfolio of the most highly complex operational programs from start to finish and delivers impactful results; this includes collecting and analyzing process data, identifying root cause, requirements gathering/validation, scoping, developing, and implementing solutions, aligning partner expectations, project management and using metrics to measure and assess success and impacts.
  • Analyze work flow processes, procedures and data
  • Facilitate Kaizen workshop events for processes that have a cross-functional impact to eliminate waste, reduce cycle time and improve business performance while establishing a sustainable model for continuous improvement
  • Perform root cause and gap analysis techniques, design future state work flow processes and procedures and analyzes system flows.
  • Determine business impact for changes in processes and procedures
  • Design and executes implementation plans, including training and communication. 
  • Optimize existing processes and activities within Global HR by identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities through data analysis, making recommendations, and ensuring action plans are developed and executed.
  • Use a strong knowledge of Lean and Six-Sigma principles to drive a robust service and operational excellence culture throughout Global HR 
  • Ensure controls, compliance and oversight mechanisms are in place to minimize risks.
  • Assess and reports on the quality of execution of Global HR, based on the established quality assurance program to drive performance and ensure that deliverables are defect free, complete, and fulfill all stated requirements.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, 
  • Adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Post-secondary degree Business, Operations, Science, Engineering 
  • Business acumen, information technology domain knowledge and expertise in operational excellence
  • Lean and six sigma disciplines demonstrated through holding a formal designation (Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Six Sigma Black Belt) is an asset.
  • 3 - 5 years of leading operational excellence and/or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Structured thinking when solving problems and organizing work.  Can analyze data and situations fully and accurately to guide and reach productive decisions.
  • You enjoy investigating complex problems, and making sense of information. You are confident in communicating complex information in a meaningful and impactful way
  • Demonstrated proficiency and passion for lean methodology, tools, and business process improvement, with strong grounding and experience with the application of Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC and CI principals is an asset.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leading change through others to achieve operational excellence.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills - able to convey messages that can be understood across all levels of the organization from the ground level through the executive and board level.
  • Able to explain digital concepts and technologies to non-technical leaders and convey 'business' concepts to technical staff. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including superior listening and probing skills, and the ability to build rapport across the company while quickly and confidently gaining respect of others. 
  • Builds relationships and brings together individuals with different perspectives and opinions, and drive toward a common goal. 
  • Ability to motivate and lead change. 
  • Proven ability to exercise good judgment, initiative, and maintain confidentiality. 
  • Strong knowledge and experience applying problem solving tools.
  • Strong scientific and analytical understanding of processes and quality systems
  • Competence in systematically solving problems using appropriate process improvement methodologies to analyze complex data/information from different cross-functional teams, both locally and globally
  • Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods 
  • Sound judgement to evaluate and analyze information, and effectively resolve issues
  • Familiarity with related software programs (such Microsoft Project, Minitab, Visio, BlueWorks, Flowchart software, Enterprise Resource Planning)
  • Fluency in Spanish – written and speaking would be an asset

  • Knowledge of HR Systems, data, and analytics, understanding of various types of HR Operational risks, 
  • Actively promote and advance a culture of inclusion while consciously and intentionally challenging bias, confronting discrimination, and valuing every single voice
  • Challenge status quo and seek out efficiencies by applying best practices and process improvement along with automation if warranted.
  • Develop, build, implement process efficiencies while passing on the knowledge and skills so the HR functions can become self-sustainable with these solutions
