Overview:

The primary role of the Director, Retirement Investment Specialist (RIS) is to support our dedicated team of US Retirement Core, Mid- Large, Taft-Hartley Segment Sales Force, Relationship Managers, Advisor Advocate Teams, and National Accounts to service, develop and expand existing and new relationships within US Retirements to offer our Manulife Investment Management/John Hancock Investment Management Investment funds and solutions.

A primary objective of the role is to engage in a consultative manner with our US Retirement clients, prospects, intermediaries, and consultants in partnership with our US Retirement Sales Force to increase and retain allocation to ensure our proprietary funds commercial outcomes. Importantly, this role will also partner with our Manulife Investment Management portfolio managers, portfolio specialists, National Accounts, to deliver our investment intellectual property, investment tools and competitive intelligence to US Retirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work with US Retirements to promote the use of John Hancock proprietary funds in John Hancock Retirement plans of all sizes, both new and existing plans

  • Proactively reach out to individuals to provide support, competitive analysis and education on John Hancock funds

  • Present in both internal and external settings, providing analysis, positioning and education as warranted

  • Generate fund reports for use in client presentations and provide positioning and context for the requestor

  • Have the ability to go deep on certain products and product structures in a training capacity for Distribution, and with advisors.

  • Deliver Webex/Zoom/Teams meetings to start, further, or close the sales process.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 -7 years of investment-related experience. Product Management, Investment Management or Research experience required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience required; MBA and/or CFA preferred

  • Series 7, 63/66 and Insurance licenses are required

  • Strong investment and industry knowledge

  • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve team objectives

  • Strong written, analytical and presentation skills. Attention to detail a must.

  • Power Point presentation creation skills will be prioritized

  • Expert at WebEx, Zoom, Microsoft Teams for delivery of messaging internally and externally

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects on a timely basis

  • Strong PC skills, including Excel, and Word.  Expertise in PowerPoint to get ideas into digestible format

  • Proficiency with industry tools, such as Morningstar Direct and Factset

Travel

  • This position is hybrid and will be out of Toronto home office

  • Cross border travel is expected as needed and could be as high 40% until the Retirement Investment Specialist Team has been fully resourced.

Working Arrangement

Hybrid

Salary range is expected to be between

$116,000.00 CAD - $166,000.00 CAD
