About the position

Duties
EL-06 and EL-07 positions will be responsible for overseeing technical operations, ensuring compliance with policies, and providing leadership within a dynamic environment.
Key duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Verify project directives to ensure compliance with applicable policies.
• Modify existing network infrastructure designs and update documentation, including “as-built” diagrams.
• Supervise a team of 3–10 personnel.
• Operate a wide range of test equipment for data collection and analysis, including radio frequency (RF) receivers, signal analyzers, thermal analysis tools, and antenna configurations.
• Operate and maintain radio frequency (RF) measurement systems and communication equipment.
• Prepare technical reports for clients and provide guidance in accordance with policy.
• Conduct technical investigations, trials, and experiments on electronic communication systems and equipment.

Intent of the process
The purpose of this process is to staff approximately 15 EL-06 positions and 8 EL-07 positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis within the National Capital Region. Positions may be designated as English Essential or Bilingual and will require various security clearance levels.
Please note: all roles involve full-time onsite work across multiple locations, which may require flexibility for regular travel.
A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence.

EX2. Experience in the development, testing, and installation of satellite communications systems, Radio Frequency (RF), electronic infrastructure, or cryptographic or Video-Audio-Data equipment*.
EX3. Experience as a technologist with complex troubleshooting of electronic equipment and systems**.
EX4. Experience managing or maintaining electrical or electronic equipment on modern, complex, highly integrated electro-mechanical or electronic equipment and systems.
*Note: Video-Audio-Data equipment includes equipment (analogue and digital) that possesses interactive features.
**Note: Electronic equipment and systems may include but is not limited to fixed and mobile radio, satellite and radar systems, communications infrastructure, cryptographic equipment or similar.

AEX11. Experience in multiple phases of lifecycle management of satellite communication systems and ground support equipment in government, military, or commercial contexts.
AEX12.Experience with custom building and installation of Radio Frequency (RF) and data cables for strategic satellite or communication systems in secure or specialized environments.
AEX13. Experience in dealing with installation and maintenance procedures (preventive and corrective) of Canadian Forces Strategic Satellite equipment over the last 3 years.
AEX14. Experience in maintaining, installing or designing of various communication cabling systems, infrastructure, and cryptographic equipment, including secure or shielded systems such as TEMPEST.
AEX15. Experience managing or safeguarding cryptographic material or secure communications systems in government, military, or commercial environments.

AEX17. Experience in the design, installation, and modification of various communication cabling systems, infrastructure, and cryptographic equipment, including knowledge or application of emissions security principles.
AEX18. Experience in planning, designing, developing and managing the implementation of complex strategic radio communication systems in the High and Low Frequency bands.
AEX19. Experience in reviewing and analyzing existing deficiencies in asset structures, systems, and equipment, and developing solutions to address both current and future needs.
AEX20. Experience in analyzing the suitability of future technologies and assessing the feasibility of their implementation and integration.
AEX21. Experience establishing and maintaining working relationships with partners in support of High Frequency Radio Capability’s or similar strategic communication systems.
AEX22. Experience consulting and liaising with government departments, defence industry, academic institutions, or international partners to provide technical expertise on subject matter.
AEX23. Experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting Video-Audio-Data and Network systems in secure or sensitive environments.
NOTE: A Video-Audio-Data system includes equipment (analogue and digital) that possesses interactive features.
AEX24. Experience providing technical advice on videoconferencing technologies in secure or general environments to management or partners.
AEX25. Experience as an audio visual (AV) technology specialist.
