Duties
Certify airworthiness of aircraft components, including airframes, piston engines, electrical systems, and propellers.
Diagnose and troubleshoot structural, mechanical, and electrical systems to keep aircraft serviceable.
Adjust and repair systems according to specifications, technical drawings, manuals, and established aviation standards.
Repair aircraft structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
Install and maintain glider fuselage and flight control fabric coverings.
Install and modify aircraft systems, including engines, hydraulics, electrical, flight controls, and fuel systems.
Disassemble airframes, engines and other aircraft systems for repair, overhaul, inspection, and reassembly
Supervise, perform and document all aircraft maintenance activities, to ensure compliance with regulations.
Weigh aircraft and calculate weight and balance data to support safe loading of aircraft before flight.

Intent of the process
The immediate intent of this process to to fill 3 vacancies in Trenton, ON and 1 vacancy in Comox, BC.
This process will also be used to build a pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates to fill future vacancies across DND’s operational landscape. OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
OC1. Possession of a valid and current Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) License M1 category issued by Transport Canada.

EXPERIENCE:
EX1. Experience in compiling and maintaining aircraft logbooks and technical records.
EX2. Experience in the repair and maintenance of fixed wing aircraft.
EX3. Experience in the repair and maintenance of aircraft piston engines.
EX4. Experience in analyzing, evaluating, and presenting solutions to aircraft technical issues.
EX5. Experience* in mentoring, coaching, or supervising a team.
*Both formal and informal experience will be considered. Informal experience may include roles, responsibilities, or activities where an individual is providing guidance, expertise, or training to staff in an organization, without necessarily being in a position of formal authority.
