About Calian

At Calian, we help organizations overcome obstacles, manage risks, and drive progress. Since 1982, we’ve grown from a small consulting firm into a trusted global company across defence, space, health, nuclear energy, public safety, and government.

We create innovative solutions that tackle complex challenges and help organizations and communities stay resilient, informed, and connected. If you’re driven by purpose and energized by solving real-world challenges, we want you on our team.

Position Overview

Job Type: Casual

Calian is a trusted partner to organizations across Canada who need psychological assessments for prospective employees entering high-risk or safety-sensitive roles – such as law enforcement, corrections, and other positions requiring the use of a firearm.

Our work plays a critical role in ensuring that individuals stepping into these positions have the psychological readiness, decision-making skills, and resilience needed to keep themselves and the public safe. Before candidates meet with our Clinical Psychologists for in-person interviews, they complete standardized psychological assessment exams – and that’s where you come in!

Position Overview

We are looking for a Test Administrator who can bring professionalism, organization, and a calm presence to the testing process. You will be the person who ensures each session runs smoothly, that candidates understand what’s expected, and that testing protocols are followed to the letter. This is more than just handing out exams – it’s about creating a fair, consistent, and respectful environment where candidates can perform at their best.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare and set up testing sessions for small to medium-sized groups, ensuring all required materials, forms, and equipment are ready and functioning before candidates arrive.
  • Welcome and check in candidates, verifying their identification, explaining the process, and setting a professional and supportive tone for the session.
  • Deliver clear, standardized instructions so all participants understand the rules and expectations before beginning the assessment.
  • Monitor the testing environment attentively to maintain fairness, security, and compliance with assessment protocols, addressing any issues discreetly and efficiently.
  • Record and track attendance, timing, and any irregularities during the session, completing the required administrative documentation with accuracy.
  • Secure and return all testing materials in compliance with confidentiality and data-protection standards.
  • Travel to various locations across the city (and occasionally surrounding areas) to administer tests, adapting to different settings while maintaining consistency in delivery.

This is casual contract work, typically 3 – 4 full-day (8-hour) shifts per month, depending on testing demand in your area.

Qualifications

We’re looking for individuals who combine reliability and attention to detail with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field is a strong asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a personal vehicle is required.
  • Previous experience in test administration, invigilation, or proctoring (especially in academic or standardized testing environments) is a strong asset.
  • Comfortable speaking in front of a group and giving clear, structured instructions.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level or higher preferred).
  • Available for weekday shifts (Mon–Fri); occasional weekend availability is an asset but not the primary need.
  • Must be eligible for Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) Reliability Security Clearance

Additional Details

  • Contract Type: Casual – flexible scheduling, ideal for individuals seeking occasional but meaningful work.
  • Travel: Local travel to nearby testing locations required.
  • Impact: Your work directly supports public safety by ensuring that only qualified individuals advance to the next stage of the assessment process.

If you enjoy structured work, take pride in doing things with precision, and want to play a behind-the-scenes yet essential role in supporting Canada’s frontline professionals, we’d like to hear from you!
