We are seeking an Intermediate Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Processor Analyst to contribute to the next generation of Earth observation space missions. This role sits within a remote sensing and geospatial analytics environment focused on delivering timely, high-value radar imagery and actionable intelligence for commercial and government users.
The successful candidate will join an experienced SAR and remote sensing team and contribute to the development of advanced SAR processing capabilities supporting spaceborne radar missions.
This position is well suited for a motivated engineer or scientist eager to solve complex problems and develop innovative algorithms with real-world impact. You will help advance state-of-the-art SAR processing by designing and implementing signal processing techniques that improve image quality, system performance, and operational relevance.
Develop and enhance signal processing algorithms to improve SAR performance, including resolution, swath coverage, and moving target indication (MTI)
Design, implement, maintain, and evolve SAR processor models and prototypes using modern software and architectural best practices
Participate in trade studies to ensure algorithms are practical for implementation on real-world processing and radar hardware
Investigate, diagnose, and mitigate signal processing errors and image artefacts in SAR products
Perform system-level analyses and develop predictive models to assess and validate performance
Develop methods to improve SAR image quality and product reliability
Define and execute calibration strategies for SAR missions
Coordinate SAR processing requirements and development activities with internal stakeholders (e.g., payload engineering, applications, product, or business teams)
Produce clear, well-structured technical documentation describing algorithms, performance, and results
Mentor and support the development of junior team members
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field (or equivalent experience)
Approximately 3 years of experience in an engineering or technical environment, or a relevant postgraduate degree
Experience working with complex signal processing systems (e.g., radar, sonar, medical imaging) or equivalent academic research
Strong understanding of high-speed, high-throughput data processing and analysis concepts
Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, and/or C++
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving technical environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
Ability to operate effectively within a large organization and navigate cross-team dependencies
Postgraduate degree in a discipline involving advanced or applied signal processing
Familiarity with SAR remote sensing, including system design, operations, calibration, and applications
Understanding of satellite-based SAR payload design and operations
Exposure to modern software development methodologies and best practices
Experience across different engineering lifecycle models, from large-scale programs to agile software development
Knowledge of algorithm implementation on FPGA or other specialized hardware
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and spaceborne remote sensing concepts
Strong understanding of geospatial data and imagery
