We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the design and development of Spacecraft Operations Control Centers (SOCCs) for satellite systems. This role is ideal for a driven professional interested in solving complex engineering problems and contributing to the development of modern, scalable satellite operations solutions for large constellations.
You will work within a multidisciplinary satellite systems environment, supporting the full lifecycle of SOCC development—from architecture and requirements definition through integration, commissioning, and early operations.
Design SOCC architectures that are configurable, reusable, adaptable, and aligned with customer and operational requirements
Perform system analyses to support SOCC architecture decisions, including make-or-buy trade studies
Produce and maintain engineering deliverables such as:
Engineering plans
Requirements specifications
Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
Concepts of Operations (ConOps)
Develop and manage requirements at the mission, SOCC, and SOCC subsystem levels
Prepare Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Statements of Work (SOWs) for subcontracted activities
Review subcontractor design, build, and test documentation to ensure compliance with requirements
Develop integration, verification, and validation (IV&V) plans and procedures
Provide technical oversight during integration, verification, and validation activities
Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to resolve SOCC-related issues throughout design, development, testing, and commissioning phases
Develop SOCC training plans and oversee their execution
Lead commissioning activities, including international travel to customer sites, and support Launch and Early Operations (LEOP)
Mentor and coach engineering team members
Support spacecraft operations teams during mission-critical phases
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering or Physics; preferred disciplines include aerospace, electrical engineering, or space science
Minimum 10 years of experience in space systems development or operations, with strong emphasis on Satellite Operations Control Centers (SOCCs)
Solid understanding of satellite operations and SOCC components
Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and standards, including identity and access management (IAM), data communications, and data storage
Experience developing large, complex, mission-critical systems (systems or software engineering)
Experience working across contractual boundaries and collaborating directly with supplier or partner teams
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and work effectively in multidisciplinary environments
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
Willingness to travel internationally for LEOP and SOCC commissioning activities
Strong analytical skills with the ability to simplify complex problems and develop effective solutions
Passion for innovation and continuous improvement
Experience or familiarity with some of the following is preferred:
MATLAB
Python or other scripting languages
MS Excel for engineering analysis
AGI Systems Tool Kit (STK)
Requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Windchill, Jama)
Modeling and simulation tools
Experience with RF antenna communications
Prior involvement in SOCC development
Experience with automated satellite operations, including design, development, and testing
Experience leading or coaching technical teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills in French
Working knowledge of English is an asset for collaboration with international customers and English-language documentation
