The Team

Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking and Capital Markets businesses.

The Role

 

GBME is searching for an Application Performance Engineer (Dynatrace) who continuous learners are and are eager to boost capabilities of capital markets products and analytics platforms.

 

The successful candidate will have a strong technical and observability mindset.  You will work closely with business teams and cross functional engineering leaders to develop and implement market leading solutions for the various projects within GBME.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

 

  • Utilize Dynatrace to monitor application health and troubleshoot issues.
  • Implement performance monitoring strategies for GBM applications.
  • Conduct performance testing (load, stress, endurance) and analyzing results to identify bottlenecks
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize code, queries, and configurations for better performance.
  • Provide recommendations for capacity planning and scalability improvements.
  • Develop dashboards and reports to communicate performance metrics to stakeholders.
  • Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for performance-related issues.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies in application performance engineering.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

 

 

 

  • 10+ years of experience in application performance engineering using Dynatrace
  • Strong proficiency with Dynatrace.
  • Strong knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud environments.
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Shell) and automation frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g. Java, Spring boot, SQL)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

 

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have Skills)

 

  • Experience with some automated deployment. 
  • Understanding of observability principles
  • Capital Markets product knowledge
  • Cloud, Kubernetes experience
  • Experience monitoring batch
  • Experience working with real-time, high availability and low latency systems
